So what goes into making a project like this anyway?

Glad you asked! Big projects like these are massive time sinks I pour everything I have into. The first step I usually have to figure out is “What do I want to talk about”? And it’d have to be a topic I want to talk about for a while. The second step is writing a script. The main skeleton of what goes on into a big video project like this. It’s equal parts knowing what I want to say, and feverish research. Once I’m done, I record myself narrating said script, keeping in mind the tone I want to use, certain effects I’m wanting to implement in the video, and knowing when I need to re-record if I mess up. It can get pretty lengthy, as my writing on particular games I’m passionate about tends to be much more on the analytical side, a deep dive into all the intricacies and mechanics of what makes the gameplay work or not. Afterwards, since I usually talk a lot about games as it is one of my biggest passions, I record tons of gameplay footage with certain aspects of the script in mind. Then, I put it all together and piece it together like a puzzle, adding in transitions, effects, different video footage, audio adjustments, and a video end card whenever needed. It’s a lot of work, but it’s something I really enjoy making. It also allows me to showcase a large variety of my skills: scriptwriting, storyboarding, video editing, acting (to a degree), and a large amount of determination and a creative vision to put it all together!

  1. Scriptwriting

Starts with an idea, and gradually builds as I begin to form my own thoughts about what I want to say, formatted in a clean readable (oftentimes super lengthy) display.

2. Audio Recording

Next comes the part where I talk over all the aforementioned lengthy stuff I write.

3. Footage

For the next step, I gather up and record all of the footage I'm wanting to use in my project, keeping in mind the script's goal and anything outside of footage recording I want to include as well.

4. Editing

Now comes the big moment: where everything comes together. Time, effort, and loads of patience goes into crafting every scene and watching it all become a cohesive whole.

5. Rendering

After my work is done, I watch the full thing in a high quality video format, see if there are any mistakes that weren't picked up by the playback, and move on from there.
